The Roots
Our Philosophy
The roots of Greenology run deep and strong: Our vision for a better world, our methods and ideas for achieving a healthy balance between urban living and nature, and what drives us to do what we do.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
commitment
to promoting
sustainability
It’s not just what we do, but why and how we carry out what we believe.
Commitment to promoting sustainability and concern for the environment are integral to our professional activities and the management of the organisation.
Our Principles
To minimise the impact on sustainability of all office and transportation activities.
To make clients and suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy, and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management practices.
To review, annually report, and to strive continually to improve our sustainability performance.
Our Practices -
No Greenwashing!
Throughout our products and services, our philosophy is simple – we design and create sustainable living systems. In everything, from our urban farming and foodscaping systems, to vertical greenery and living art installations, we use recyclable materials and keep our systems no-frills, fuss-free, and water- and energy-efficient for a low carbon footprint.
We reduce raw material wastage with accurate production forecasting and inventory management, reusing and repurposing scrap material wherever possible. Pots, media, waste material including paper and other office consumables, computer supplies and redundant equipment are resold, recycled, or properly disposed of.
We minimise our use of paper and other office consumables, for example by using or printing on both sides of paper, and identifying opportunities to reduce waste.
All documentation is
done electronically, from invoices, delivery orders,
to purchase orders. Quotations are sent
by email as a standard procedure unless specifically requested otherwise.
We undertake voluntary work with the local community and/or environmental organisations and make relevant donations to seek to offset carbon emissions from our activities.
Healing & Rehabilitation through Greenery
We’re firm believers in the healing power of nature and plants. Contact with greenery has been proven to improve health, convalescence, well-being and productivity, and
our chosen causes reflect our belief.
We are a keen supporter of the Yellow Ribbon Project and have been working with Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises (SCORE) since our inception to employ ex-offenders in our bid to help them reintegrate into society, and pick up lifelong skills.
We’ve also worked with Singapore Association of Mental Health (SAMH), exploring ways in which horticulture can help in rehabilitation, and empowering their rehabilitated clients with purposeful employment with a goal to independent living.
Championing
our workers
A big shoutout to the unsung heroes in our industry — Our pioneers in the management team for their experience and hard work in keeping things running smoothly. And let’s not forget our incredible and skilled guys from India and Bangladesh, the guys doing all the heavy lifting.
We appreciate our team members for their dedication and contributions, making our shared journey a success!
